How to map product and category text fields in WriteText.ai

 What is field mapping?

Field mapping is the process of connecting a field in one system to the corresponding field in another, so that data flows to the right place automatically. In the context of WriteText.ai, it tells the plugin which fields in your Magento store should receive each type of generated content.

Why field mapping matters

Without correct field mapping, generated content may not appear where you expect it, or it could overwrite data in fields you didn't intend to update. Configuring this correctly means:

  • The right content appears in the right place on your storefront
  • WriteText.ai output aligns with your store's SEO, marketing, or custom field structure
  • You stay in control of which fields get updated and which are left untouched
  • Third-party or SEO module fields receive content correctly, rather than being skipped or misrouted

Proper field mapping also helps maintain consistency across your catalog, which is particularly important when running bulk transfers across many products.

Setting up field mapping

  1. Go to the WriteText.ai section in your Magento admin sidebar.
  2. Open the configuration or settings page.
  3. Find the field mapping area, labeled "Field Mapping" or "Map product text fields."
  4. Select which field should receive each type of generated content — for example, which field gets the meta title, which gets the product description, and which gets the short description.
  5. Save your changes.

WriteText.ai will then save all generated output to the fields you have selected.

Mapping to custom Magento fields

WriteText.ai supports custom fields. The field mapping section lists both standard Magento fields and any custom fields available in your store's setup. Select your custom field from the dropdown when configuring the mapping, then save. Generated content will be saved to that field going forward.This applies to fields added by third-party modules, including SEO plugins, as well as fields created through custom development. No additional configuration outside of WriteText.ai is required.
