How WriteText.ai handles the Open Graph text field in Magento

Tags: open graph, field mapping, SEO module, short description, Magento settings

Because Magento does not have a native Open Graph field, WriteText.ai uses the Short Description field for Open Graph text by default. If you have an SEO module installed, or if you want to use a different field entirely, you can change this in the field mapping settings.

Default behavior (no SEO module)

Without an SEO module, WriteText.ai maps generated Open Graph text to the Short Description field. This is the closest native Magento field for this purpose.

Behavior with an SEO module

If you have an SEO module installed, WriteText.ai follows that module's configuration for Open Graph text. Depending on which module you use and how it is set up, it may pull Open Graph data from the Meta Description, Description, or Short Description field. WriteText.ai generates and maps content according to those settings automatically.

Setting a custom field

If your SEO module uses a field that is not covered by the default mapping, or if you want to direct Open Graph text to a specific field for any other reason, you can select a custom field in WriteText.ai settings.

  1. Go to the WriteText.ai section in your Magento admin sidebar.
  2. Open the Settings page.
  3. Check the box for "Custom Open Graph text field."
  4. Choose your preferred field from the dropdown list.
  5. Save your changes.

WriteText.ai will then generate and map Open Graph text to the field you selected.
