Why doesn't WriteText.ai always adhere to the specified maximum target length?

How AI handles word count limits

WriteText.ai is built to prioritize flow, tone, and readability over strict cutoffs. If the AI is mid-sentence near the target length, it will continue just long enough to complete the thought in a natural way. This intentional slight overrun ensures the final text feels complete, polished, and ready to publish.

How maximum target length works

In the plugin, the maximum target length setting applies only to standard (non-template) generation and is used as a guideline, not a hard stop.

When using templates, you can define target lengths at the section level—setting a specific word count for paragraph sections or the number of line items for list sections. This gives you greater flexibility to control both detail and structure in your content.

Why target length is a guide, not a rule

Stopping generation at an exact number can leave incomplete thoughts or awkward phrasing. Treating the target as a guide ensures the AI can finish sentences cleanly, preserving clarity and quality even if it means going slightly over.

Tips for managing output length

  • If you have strict space limits, set a slightly lower target to allow for buffer.
  • Trim after generation if needed—usually just one sentence is enough.
  • Use templates for precise section-by-section control over content length.
