What is the effect of changing the “minWords” and “maxWords” settings?
The minWords and maxWords settings control how long the AI-generated text will be. minWords sets a floor — the AI will not produce output shorter than this value. maxWords sets a ceiling — the AI will not exceed this word count. Together, they define the range within which WriteText.ai generates your content.
How each setting affects output
- minWords — A higher minimum pushes the AI to produce more detailed, developed content. If you want thorough product descriptions that cover multiple attributes, raising this value helps ensure the output doesn't come back too thin.
- maxWords — A lower maximum keeps the output tight and concise. This is useful when you need brief copy, such as short product descriptions or content for platforms with display constraints.
If both values are set close together, the AI targets that narrow range. If there's a wide gap between them, the AI has more flexibility and will generally produce output based on how much relevant content it has to work with.
When to adjust these settings
You might want to revisit these settings if:
- Your generated descriptions consistently feel too brief or too long for your store's layout
- You're generating content for a specific content type that has defined length requirements
- You're running bulk generation and want consistent output length across a large product catalog
The right values depend on your store, your product type, and your content goals. There's no universal ideal — a one-line fashion accessory description and a detailed technical spec both serve different needs.
Note that minWords and maxWords are not applied when products or categories use templates. In that case, output length is determined by the template structure instead.
